What is an initial appearance?
It is usually one of the first court hearings after someone has been arrested or charged. It is often where the person is told about the charges and where the court sets conditions for release, such as bail or no-contact orders. Details vary from case to case.
Finding who is scheduled
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office explains that you can look up who is scheduled for Initial Appearance Court using the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access (CCAP) court calendar, on its IA Court page.
Your privacy
